When Good Minds Gather and a FREEBIE for YOU!

  In his groundbreaking work, Dr. Masaru Emoto talked about  how  groups of people have gathered around polluted bodies of water and sent good intentions for cleansing them. In these cases, the combined intention actually caused the water to be measurably clearer. Likewise, repeated studies are documented that show when focus groups concentrate on reducing a certain city’s crime rate, crime drops to a statistically significant degree for an approximate 24 hour period. In an additional study shared by Dr. Joe Dispenza, a prayer group was able to successfully unwind strands of DNA in test tubes up to 25% of the time. This all takes talent, right?

No. It takes intention, emotion, and directed focus.

While the power of our minds is beyond anything science can currently understand or even calculate, we know that intention–when executed correctly–can be very powerful. When you take the focused intent of more than one mind, especially when those minds are honed in on the same thing and in the right way, the results can be astonishing. Now you can experience this power first hand, and get something beyond unraveled DNA strands.

I’m holding a Group Intentions Medicreation and the first one is FREE!!!! Let me tell you how this works and what you can get out of it. First of all, we’ll all put our intentions on one thing, and each month (or so) it will be something different. Then after a few minutes of that, I’ll lead you into a guided meditation that helps you focus on YOUR OWN PERSONAL INTENTION. Then as a group, we’ll put our intentions on everyone else’s all coming to pass (for the greatest good of all involved). So what you’re getting is an hour of instructive effort that puts you in touch with your intention in a very powerful way, as well as a group of other people all focusing on your intention coming true. It’s like prayer group on crack!

We’ll also use brain synchronicity music in the background that helps slow your brainwaves and enables you to visualize more effectively. This stuff really works. Our first intention-setting will be on Julia Stanley-Metz, our local Sacramento yogi who was selected as one of the four finalist for the Lays potato chip competition (SAVE MANGO).  Julia’s good intention had her picked out of FOURTEEN MILLION SUBMISSIONS. If she wins, she can fulfill her dream of supporting caregivers with the gift of yoga, especially caregivers of Alzheimers, the disease her father suffers from. As a side-note, Julia did not set an intention to win. In fact, she simply set an intention for something nice to happen. When you set intentions from a clear heart-space, they manifest even faster. Just see how sweet she is on this video here.

NOW…Something very important to note: When you give, you get back. I honestly think that’s one of the reasons Julia was selected in the first place. You see, Julia has been deeply concerned about not only her father, but about how her mother’s been holding up since care givers are often survived by those they care for. Call it karma, good luck, or extra credit, but it’s true: what you give out, you get back. All the time, every time. So you see, even during the parts of our intention-setting for someone else, you are indeed increasing credit toward your own well-being.  Please join us and see what I mean:

The Eternal Answer to Almost Everything

Aren’t you glad you only have to read this one blog post and then you’ll know all of everything for all of ever? Thank me later. Okay, before you write me off as being a little flippant about something as important as, say your life, just hear me out. Read the following sentence and see how it sits with your serious self. If you want to read the rest, well, who am I to stop you?

The answer to getting virtually anything you want is alignment. Your energy, attention, and actions must be in alignment with the intention you have set. Easy Breezy.

As simple as it sounds and as profoundly true as it is, it continues to be something the masses struggle with–even those who know it’s true (like me). Let’s break it down:

Energy. Your energy, your life force, your emotions–matter. Your heart’s magnetic energy radiates something like five football fields (don’t quote me on that). Like it our not, we all vibrate at a certain frequency that is either in alignment with our intentions, or not in alignment with them. The best way to keep your energy in alignment with whatever it is you have your little heart set on, is to capture and keep the feeling of having that intention already met. I’m not saying you need to dance around sprinkling rose petals all over the place, but by god, you ought to feel like you could.

Attention. Your attention must be in alignment with your intentions, too. If you are constantly distracted by late bills, bad boyfriends, dogs that bark for no reason (what? just me?) then you are not keeping your attention in alignment. Just think about this: if you won the lottery, for instance, would you really sweat the fact that your cell phone bill is so high, your boss is in a bad mood, or your mother called complaining (again)? Of course not. Keeping our focus on the things we desire in spite of the fact they’re not already here is the goal.

Action. Your action is two-fold. Granted you may still need to feed the cat, pay taxes, and tolerate your in-laws, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do some kind of action every day that takes you toward your intention. Some examples might be: reading up on the topic, making a call, or sending an email. Even the simplest things move you in the right direction. The second part of action is in ‘acting as if.’ When we act as if we already have our intentions sitting in our laps, it’s easier to keep our energy and attention and activities all in alignment with them.

While you’ll need to read one of my books to learn more–okay, you could do a Google search too, but then how would I buy more wine?–the truth is that this is all supported by biology, psychology, quantum physics, and neuroscience.  We can create our intentions. The catch is that keeping our energy, attention, and actions in alignment with our intentions is beyond challenging for most of us. This is why what I call Medicreation is soooooo important.

We have to take time out from the external world and focus internally, getting everything in alignment with our intentions. That daily practice not only helps us attract more of what we want in life, it also helps keep the rest of the day–filled with external noise, distractions, and upsets–much more easy to manage. The saying is true: spend time within, or go without. Stay aligned and stay inspired. my friends. xoxo

Wanted: Ten Thousand Tooth Fairies

toothfairy2small Remember getting or putting a buck under a pillow? Well here’s your chance to rekindle that nostalgic moment and help someone out.  I’m a big believer that what we put out always comes back to us multiplied. This goes for love, money, the thoughts we think, or the words we say. Thus, whenever we do something that can truly help someone else out, we are simply taking advanced reservations of all  that good coming right back to us. Under our own pillow, if you will. Lisa Caza is a dear friend of mine. A very talented individual who offers her insights on this popular radio show, and does more than her fair share of helping people around the world with her special kind of counseling at a super affordable price. But now, she needs help. Lisa has had a hard life, and as a result, is very ill. She needs to have her teeth surgically removed to stop the terrible infection that’s taken over her body. I’ll let you read in her own words how this happened and what she is hoping for, but the bottom line is this: the woman needs some falsies. Teeth, I mean. So I figure that some people might be willing to play Tooth Fairy for a few minutes and pop a buck under her virtual pillow. I’m not sure if we can find 10,000 tooth fairies, but who knows, maybe some angels out there will match my 100 in the name of “good karma coming”? Energy & Adversity

I know it. I research  it. I read about it every  day, and when I’m not reading or writing books about it, I’m talking about it. So why then do I sometimes fall prey to the opposite of it? Because I’m human, dammit. And so are you. In case you’re wondering what I’m talking about, it’s energy and adversity. Let me backtrack just a little. My theme in life is keeping myself and others inspired. I understand how the subconscious mind works, have a pretty good grasp on neuroscience and quantum physics, and have read (and written) more books than anybody ought to. I know the rules. Focus on the good stuff and leave the rest behind. Keep my energy vibrating high so I attract abundance and good parking spaces. I get it, and honestly, it works like a flipping charm.

But then. Those occasional  times (and I am so blessed they are only occasional), I forget what I know. I react to an external event, and then the snowball effect begins.

It starts innocently enough. I’m frustrated because I can’t get a hold of someone who owes me something. The more time that passes, the madder I get. My mind suddenly takes hold of the thought that this person is ignoring me, and suddenly, I can’t focus on anything else. How dare she! After all I’ve done for her!  I take a deep breath and realize what I just did to my energy and my body. First off, the reaction we can have in cases like this is chemical as much as it is emotional. So our fight or flight survival mechanism kicks into gear, releasing all sorts of cortisol and other neuortransmittors that aren’t doing anybody a darn bit of good.

Additionally, thoughts are things and where attention goes, energy flows. If we want a new car for example, we don’t commiserate over the fact that we don’t have one (I call this having a lack attack and you’d be better off consuming a Big Mac–ew). So knowing all this, I begin to reign my energy in, taking some deep breaths. Too late. I log onto my MLS and can’t get on. I have to look something up,  plus change the status of a listing I just sold. I call them. Some freak-o mistake that results in me having to call more people, sit on hold, and play the waiting game. This is ridiculous! How dare they….o0ps.  That’s when it hits me. I did this. I let my energy get stuck and dense over someone else. I allowed another person’s actions or in actions to let myself get all worked up and end up attracting more dumb stuff into my day.

Wow.

I immediately closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and thought about something that made me smile. I did not open my eyes until I felt the energy of joy, love and forgiveness flood through my body. I knew I had to wash out those icky chemicals of anger with positive-feeling endorphins to get things back on track.

Adversity doesn’t always come through other people, either. Sometimes it’s a late bill, a lost job, or a flat tire. The point is, this thing we call life is all about learning to love ourselves and others and to recognize our power and our potential. Dumb stuff happens, but our job is to (eventually) learn to overcome it with grace and elegance. Sometimes a hard cry and a good glass of Pinot are required too, and that’s okay. To do our best to find a feeling that’s a little bit better than anger, frustration, or depression (the lowest on the energy scale). When something sets us off, we must take immediate action to shift that energy back to better so that we are not attracting more of what we don’t want.

As for me and my little hiccup? And it’s important to note that it was only a hiccup and that’s what I’m talking about here: most things really are not as significant as we give them credit for, thus our overreactions. Anyway, within minutes, and I do mean minutes, the person in question called me…her phone had been dead. I felt better and lighter.  I also had an unexpectedly awesome email,  a new virtual tour on one of my listings, and a handful of positive messages waiting for me online.

Life is good. Adversity presents opportunities to test ourselves and our resolve to keep the proper perspective on what really matters. Take 100% responsibility for the energy you bring into the room. Into the world. You got this.

Trust vs. Resistence

I used to hear this saying and thought is was a really neat rhyme. Then I started to understand it, all the while, being entirely too tough on myself. So wait, I’m thinking, if I resist pain, poverty and cellulite, then I’ll simply get more of it? Wow, that really sucks, right? But then, through years of obsessive study and relentless application, I began to see the deeper meaning, which coincidentally,  actually has two parts.

First of all, wherever we put our attention, we apply power. Our thought forms are energetic and like it or not, we create most of our own problems, dramas and set-backs. Where attention goes energy flows. So in that sense, yes, if we’re resisting something then chances are we’re giving it our attention, right? If I resist a stubborn client, for example, I am putting my attention on the parts of the client that are driving me batty, thus increasing that behavior because of my energy toward it (PS if you are one of my clients, I am not talking about you. You are a perfect little lamb that I love so very much). In this first sense it is so true that we must learn to focus on what we want instead of what we do not like or want. I get that. I really do. The more tricky part in my opinion is in the releasing of resistance. My Jewish angel-in-training, Morty (sorry, you’ll have to read the book), says something about going with the flow.

I’d been hearing we should go with the flow for a long time, but I’ve always had an issue with it. I mean, do I need a raft or would a fishing boat be better? And say for example, something terrible happens, does that mean I should just go with it and not stand up for myself or press charges, or write a complaint letter or whatever else might seem appropriate? However, Going with the flow isn’t about giving in, cowing down or being  a quitter. It’s not about surrendering to things you do not want to happen or giving up because you hit a bump in the road. There are indeed times when we must take a stand, make some noise or push ahead harder and stronger. I think this is where the Serenity Prayer comes in: “Give me the courage to change the things I can….” But what about for the things that seem unchangeable, what then?

I believe the opposite of resistance is trust. you can call it faith if you want to. Heck, you could call it Morty like I do, but inevitably, and in order to keep your sanity, you will indeed need to call upon it. Let’s look at an example, shall we? Say for instance you don’t get a job you really had your heart set on. Let’s say you did all the visualizing, praying and calling in favors known to man. Still, you didn’t get the job. You cry,  complain and swear the hiring committee was on crack cocaine. It’s what you do next that makes the difference, at least in my opinion.

Look, if you do everything you can to have, do or be something, and it just doesn’t happen for you, you’ve got to do some real soul searching. First and foremost you have to ask yourself if you’re 100 percent certain you really did put forth the effort. You could tell me all the physical actions you took toward your goal or intention, but it’s the mental ones that matter most. I won’t go into the whole slew of things because then you might never buy my books. Naughty you!  Okay, Mommy will be serious and helpful now. Some of the things that may have held you back could include buried resentment, self doubt or fear. But let’s put all that aside for next week’s post, shall we? And let’s assume you’ve got none of those issues that could have stood in the way. So now what?

Now is when the trust part comes into play. Now is when you have to stop and look at the situation. Okay,so  you didn’t get the job, you did everything right and for all intents and purposes that damn job should have been yours. This is when you get to choose. Will you resist the reality that you didn’t get the job, or will you trust that there may be a good reason? Will you walk around bitter at everyone you know who has a great job and feel sorry for yourself that you just can’t catch a break, or will you entertain the possibility that there’s something different or better in store for you? Is it at all possible that the Universe has different plans that will end up serving you better in the long run?

We don’t always get what we want, but we just might find, we get what we need. Trust me, I’m the one that taught Mick Jagger that line. What we resist is often related to our desires not being met. Accepting what is, trusting that there is a reason, is what serenity is all about. Focus on what you want, do what you can, and give the Universe a little leeway in how it decides to make your dreams come true. You’re welcome.

The Science & The Spirit & Silly, Silly Bears

There is indeed a science to success. In fact, I’m fairly confident in saying that it involves the following respected sciences: Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology  (shut up, it counts), and Quantum physics. I can summarize it for you in a way that makes no sense at all, but wait! First I want to add a fact that is very relevant to this discussion. The important and interesting consideration here is that the spiritual masters have been proclaiming the same ‘facts’ that science is just now  catching up with (visual: a scientist in a lab coat chasing Jesus).

If you’re like me, you have a little beehive full of honey in your sock drawer…no wait, that’s not what I meant. Oh yeah…if you’re like me, you prefer to understand the science behind the stuff you talk about at cocktail parties. Mainly, because it makes you sound really smart (MC Squared was a really bad rock band but subatomic particles decimate at the speed of light, just ask Neals Bohr). You get the point. Anyways...it is true that many of us prefer the facts, Perry Mason style if you please. So here is it in black and white:

The Universe is comprised of subatomic waves and particles that are proven to be affected by vibration. Thoughts and feelings create an electromagnetic force that vibrates….hmmm….think we’re on to something here? Oh yes. Add to that can of mixed nuts the fact that the quantum model and really some really smart physicists tell us that all possibilities exist at the same time (I’m waiting for the one where the IRS doesn’t hate me), thus, those focused thoughts of yours can actually impact energy…um, because your thoughts and feelings ARE energy. So the saying ‘mind over matter’ is not just a snappy thing to shout when you cut  a cop off on the freeway (this is not a good idea when his sirens are on. Just trust me on that).

The energy we send out has the potential power to affect waves in ways that manifest into matter. Now I’m not saying that I can stare at this glass of water and turn it into wine. Wait a minute…who took my wine?! But I AM saying that with a focused and clear mind, much more is possible than most of us are willing to recognize. Now let’s contrast that with some spiritual stuff.

Faith is simply the opposite of fear, right? Let’s just say I’m full of beans (mmmmburritos), then you explain how Jesus turned water into wine. What? You weren’t there? Oh silly, silly bear. Faith is simply stepping out on a branch (test it first with my mother if you must), and experimenting with all the science stuff. And once you realize that it’s all the same, you’ll feel much better (and please don’t tell my mom I volunteered her like that). Your thoughts and feelings are like magnets, like it or not, and faith adds to the positive emotions because you’re being grateful for something you desire before you even have it. Simple, right?

I love that we’re alive in a time where science and spirit are coming closer together. It’s not like they’re having tea parties or anything quite yet, but fewer fundamentalists are calling me a heathen when I talk about thoughts attracting things, and not as many business people say I’m full of quantum crap. Hey, being a quantum crap heathen can really takes its toll on the tender-hearted teachers of the world. Are Belief Boards Better?

I’m all about any kind of tool that can help us stay on track and in the right state of mind to better intend and attract (even though I KNOW that our imaginations, meditations, actions, and attitudes are the true game-changers). That said, you may be familiar with the term “vision boards.” Back in time, like way before that term became popular, we used to call them ‘treasure maps.’ Let’s look at the basic neurological reason they can be very effective, and then allow me to introduce you to another idea that can augment or even replace your vision board.

A vision board is essentially a collection of images that you want to attract into your life. Some people even have vision board parties where several people bring poster boards and magazines and hopefully scissors, and of course paste. It’s like a preschool party with wine. Anyway, it usually looks like a collage of cool things found in magazines. You know, thin thighs, big diamonds, fancy mansions, cool cars. And of course, the well-thought out envisioner will include images that represent health, love, and happiness.

All good, right? So here’s the theory: that by constantly seeing your vision board, the images become almost subliminally soaked into your subconscious brain.  The pro: your subconscious brain may think you  already have these things and lead you to behaviors that actually help you acquire them. The possible downside: your conscious brain doesn’t buy it for a minute, due to subconscious blocks, thus every time you look at the  thing, you realize you don’t have a dang item on it.

IF you fall into the latter category, consider a Belief Board. I thought of it when I was writing The Law of Distraction & Art of Intention,  in which we’re encouraged to keep a Joy Journal. A Joy Journal is just a recording of good things that happen to you that you can refer back to in times of stress and self doubt. And think about it. Our boss can compliment us and have us feeling on top of the world, but five minutes later a long line at the bank has us all stressed out again, right? So the trick is (and our main challenge in life in fact), to stay focused on the good. When we stay focused on the good, we are not only happier, but we’re also in a better position to attract things that we desire.

For myself, I printed out a bunch of terrific book reviews I’ve gotten on amazon.com. Those make me smile like a drunken sailor. What? Drunk sailors smile. Anyway, I paste those to a poster board, along with some heartfelt emails from students or clients that really made me smile. You get the idea. Maybe you add birthday cards that speak to your soul or photos from events, pictures of awards, any kind of ‘proof’ that you are awesome (because you are).

So now what happens when you see that thing all the time is that your conscious mind has no argument. It can’t say that those things did not take place. That shit went down and it knows it. Further, it REMINDS it that you are worthy and wonderful. Then, on a subconscious level, your sense of self worth increases as well. See? Happy, happy, happy.

If you don’t do a board, try a Joy Journal or Joy Jar. Just jot down fabulous things and keep a record. Read ‘em often, Remember how great you are. Remember, anything you can do to keep your focus positive is good medicine.

Be Gentle, It’s my First Time

I’m serious. I’ve never done it before. What? You think I’m kidding? I swear on all that is holy I have never once, not in twelve books written, ever had a book launch event. Why, what did YOU think I was talking about? Keep it clean, would you? Kids are reading.  *Ahem* Anyway, my new book is just so different than my others (and you’ll have to read it to understand why) that I felt the need to celebrate the publication. That said, I decided to buy a bunch of champagne, have some gourmet cupcakes (that match the book cover for Pete’s sake!) and sign some books. It’s only for an hour and I only have enough sweets and sips for about 100 people, so hopefully five or so will show up and I can take the booze and cupcakes home with me.

Wait a minute…you’d have to read my blog in order to see this wouldn’t you?  Hmmm….so never mind that last part.  After all, I can’t just serve champagne to total strangers. Cosmic Coincidence?

Okay, so just for the record, I have never been one to think Jesus puts his face on bread like some boy said he saw in the East of France. Even if it was true, how would anyone in his right mind eat that toast? Could you imagine smearing butter over his beard? That’s just wrong on so many levels. But I digress.

Anyway, I AM a big believer in the fact that we attract our intentions, AND that there is some hard science that explains the phenomena–at least mostly. That said, I had an interesting experience that I wanted to share.

After just getting a proof of my new book, which happens to feature an angel (think Heaven with humor), I did a short but serious meditation and prayer, asking for some kind of sign that this book was something I needed to pursue (keep in mind, teaching intention and meditation workshops is a HUGE jump from selling houses). Holding that intention in mind, I left to teach a class, and as soon as I pulled out of the driveway, I think I got my sign. I had to put the car in park and grab my phone to take a picture.

Note the cover of the book IS a sky and clouds, and about an angel….and well, the picture I took kind of speaks for itself. Chem trail coincidence or a sign from the Universe? What do you think?

Shoving White Light Your Way

White Light

I’ve been hearing this advice forever: send white light to those who need forgiving.  I get it, and like everyone else, I want to send a lot of white light instead of dirty emails whenever someone does me wrong. Sometimes the emails win, but I use a white background, so that counts, right? And don’t get me started on my mother. I send her so much white light that the woman should be blind by now.

There’s a Hawaiian teaching that I’ve been studying and practicing for a number of years, and I’m beginning to think there’s a whole lot to it. The Kahuna practice of Ho’oponopono is all about forgiving everything and everyone, no questions asked.  You can read more about it on your own (and here’s my favorite of the several books I have), but there’s a documented case where this therapist healed an entire State Hospital (read: nut jobs with bedpans) within a four-year period. What was really significant about the whole thing is that he did this without ever seeing any of the patients. No lollipops or anything,

Say what?

Yep. You’ll read about him in just about all the books on this teaching. Those Hawaiians not only roast a mean pig, but apparently there’s a lot of magic in them there volcanoes. Dr. Lew Hen understood that as the creator of his own reality he must have somehow helped create the creeps in the shackles. So, he’d go to his office every day, hold the file of one of the committed patients, and pray for forgiveness, offering up unconditional love. There’s a particular set of sentences he used and teaches, but you can read about that on your own; Mommy can’t do everything for you, little cub.

So what was once a dark, drab state hospital with most the staff calling in sick, no visitors coming to see the committed, and no kinds of group therapy, was transformed to a happy hospital with frolicking patients and plenty of group hugs. Staff started showing up for work, someone apparently opened the blinds, and visitors started coming to see their now unshackled loved ones. While I acknowledge Lew Hen as being an above-average skilled practitioner of this teaching, I also understand that any of us could achieve similar results.

Say whaaat?  

I know. Call me crazy (just please, spare the shackles), but there are some pretty basic points to be made. First, we really do create our own reality. Quantum physicists–even the hard-core fundamentalists–cannot deny that any object being observed changes, depending on the expectation of the observer (if that made me sound smart, I apologize).  We also know that our thoughts and feelings are interacting with the quantum field at all times. Okay, so if I created everything I experience, that has to mean, I somehow contributed to creating the crappy stuff too, right? This is not a trick question.

Instead, it opens up the fastest way toward emotional repair and free oil changes.  So,  as soon as I acknowledge responsibility for everything I experience, and offer forgiveness for creating crap I don’t like, I can move on. You know, be at peace with the world and drink wheat grass and stuff. Okay, seriously, forgiveness is the fastest freeway to inner peace, like it or not. I tried to ease you into this, but if you’re going to make a fuss, I will have to tie you up and tickle you really hard.

Perhaps on a deeper level (and I have a shovel if you need one), the fact that we are all interconnected comes into play. Science shows us that we are all connected and created by the same energy, right? So when someone does something wrong to me, like say that guy who took the last taco at the party, instead of growling under my breath, I should send him white light and Tabasco sauce. Because in essence, I’m not just forgiving him and releasing grudges that might otherwise hold me back, but I am moving past my own issues and taking control of my life. Never mind the fact that I am still hungry. I forgive the little taco-taker and can always get Chinese food.

So go ahead, send someone who’s bugging you some white light today. Even if you have to shove it down their throat, you’ll be a better person in the long run. Forgive and move on. Life is too short for grudges.
